Centre gives de-registered NGOs opportunity to file annual returns, but with a penalty

The home ministry, which had last month cancelled the registration of 4,842 NGOs and associations under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) over their failure to file annual returns between 2010-11 and 2014-15, has given them one more opportunity to do so but after paying a penalty.
