- There has been a huge initiative of the Govt of Pakistan which did not any attention during the pandemic.
- The initiative was the ‘control of medicine prices’
- The specific initiative has helped the economically-hit classes of Pakistan.
According to the National Drug Policy, Pharmaceutical Companies are legally allowed to increase the prices
The national drug policy April 2018 allows the pharmaceuticals to increase the prices of non-essential drugs by 10% and essential drugs by 7%. So when the companies were planning on increasing the prices in July 2020, the Govt of Pakistan talked to them, and convinced to ‘ increase in the medicine prices’.
The result:
As a result of the talks between the Govt and the companies, they agreed to hold the increase in prices for three months.

How did it affect the people of Pakistan:
The corona pandemic was not only a health issue but a global economic crisis as well. All economies of the world were suffering from huge losses and joblessness. In such a severe crisis, the Govt of Pakistan managed to hold the prices of medicine.
It has obviously helped the economically hit people of Pakistan.
