    Two senators from parties in the PDM have resigned

    • Two senators from Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) parties have resigned both on Balochistan Awami Party ticket.
    • The media report said that both the senators have also confirmed their resignations.
    • According to the notification issued by the Election Commission, nomination papers for the Senate elections will be received from February 12 to 13.

    Two senators from parties in the PDM have resigned

    Two senators from Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) parties have resigned, ANP Senator Sitara Ayaz and National Party’s Dr Ashok have resigned, both on Balochistan Awami Party ticket. Will participate in the election.

    According to details, two senators of opposition parties Awami National Party and National Party have resigned before the Senate elections.

    The media report said that both the senators have also confirmed their resignations. These senators include ANP’s Sitara Ayaz and National Party’s Dr Ashok. It has been reported that Sitara Ayaz and Dr Ashok will now contest the Senate elections on Balochistan Awami Party tickets.

    On the other hand, the Election Commission has released the schedule for the 2021 Senate elections.

    Senate elections will be held on Wednesday, March 3. Polling for the Senate elections will be held in all four provincial assemblies, including the National Assembly, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

    According to the notification issued by the Election Commission, nomination papers for the Senate elections will be received from February 12 to 13. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be held on February 15 and 16. Appeals against the acceptance or rejection of nomination papers can be filed on February 17 and 18.

    The appeals will be decided by the Election Commission on February 19 and 20. The list of candidates will be released on February 21. Candidates can withdraw till February 22 if they want, while party tickets will have to be affixed along with nomination papers.

    Polling for the 46-seat Senate election will be held in all four provincial assemblies, including the National Assembly, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Election Commission has appointed returning officers for the four provinces, including Islamabad, for the upcoming Senate elections.

    The notification said that polling for the Senate elections would be held in the National Assembly and the four Provincial Assemblies for which Returning Officers and Polling Officers have been appointed. In Islamabad, Special Secretary Zafar Iqbal will be the Returning Officer while Shamshad Khan, Shahid Iqbal and Asif will be the Returning Officers. Ali Yasin and other polling officers of Islamabad were appointed.
