- Planning & Development Department Punjab in a collaboration with the World Bank is going to start working on the roads & infrastructure development of the tourist and heritage sites of Punjab.
- An extensive and organized system has been established to protect religious, historical, and environmental assets.
- Legal and institutional reforms are underway to improve and reform the structure of tourism institutions.
- This includes restructuring of the Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab is one such example.
Punjab Government has geared up to promote hidden treasures of Tourism in the Land of 5 rivers. This includes Heritage, religious as well as cultural tourism. Prime Minister of Pakistan immediately after assuming office announced his priority of promoting tourism in Pakistan.
This will not only help to fuel economic activities as well as earning forex exchange and promoting the soft image of Pakistan. This vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan has helped provincial governments to focus more on tourism with the help of the Federal government.
The Punjab government has finally decided to make use of its rich tourism treasure through Punjab Tourism for Economic Growth Project. Funding of approximately 55 Million USD with the help of International organizations including the World Bank has been allocated. In this regard, a project has been conceived to improve and expand tourism infrastructure in the province. This includes improving the road network and on-site tourist facilitation including tourist facilitation centers, public washrooms, parking facilities, cafeterias, and sign boards.
Punjab Tourism for Economic Growth Program has achieved important milestones already. Integrated Site Management plans for Gurdwara Sucha Soda & Gurdwara Rohri Sahib have been prepared and will be put into action soon.
Similarly, Integrated Museum Management Plans have been prepared for Lahore & Taxila Museums. New websites for Lahore and Taxila Museums to facilitate tourists have been launched. Site management plans for more religious sites are under preparation.
Investment in the tourism sector will help to fuel economic activities and will also give livelihood to our poor population. In this regard, 34.9 KM long 6 roads will be built, rehabilitate & widened in the first phase with the investment of 830 Million PKR.

3 more roads will be undertaken through this initiative soon. Punjab Tourism for Economic Growth Project will be an example for the whole of Pakistan and will help in further promoting the soft image of Pakistan as well as economic growth.
